8 Minutes Of Dead Island Alpha Gameplay Shows New Things
Deep Silver released 8 Minutes of Alpha gameplay from Dead Island Riptide. Hopefully this will wash down the bitter taste from their ill-received Zombie Bait special edition, which featured a big-breasted torso in a bikini.
In the footage, we see the return of known elements present in the original Dead Island, such as hacking off zombie bits and scavenging loot. Guns seem to return more prominently this time, as that was a concern before. A new implementation will come from a central hub, where other survivors are. Some missions will include finding weapons and such to defend this place. Another addition in Riptide is a boat, as roads have been washed away. It comes with a speed boost and defense positions for the multiplayer aspect of the game.
After some scavenging, the clip moves on to defending the safe house, which can be fortified with fences and additional guns. The mission will require fending off waves of zombies, which can be blocked in numerous ways. One tactical approach to thwart the oncoming assault is setting up a minefield prior to engagement. Once the mission starts, the allies in the hub will try and attack zombies as well.
Dead Island Riptide will be out on April 26, 2013 for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
