From the endless complaints to the calls for an FTC investigation, the Mass Effect 3 ending saga is getting a little ridiculous. Despite critical praise from professional reviewers and a huge amount of positive feedback from fans of the series, a very vocal minority of Mass Effect 3 gamers are making sure that BioWare knows how disappointed they are with the latest offering.
And somehow, the complaints appear to be working. While BioWare is staying put on the game’s ending, retailers like Amazon.com are beginning to offer full refunds for opened versions of Mass Effect 3, aiming to soften the disappointment of many customers. Gamers that bought the game on Amazon.com can return it for a full refund, even if the game has been opened and played.
It’s an incredibly generous offer, and we can see it being abused by gamers that played – and really enjoyed – the game. While we’ve got to give some credit to Amazon for reaching out to its gaming customers, offering refunds for a game because its ending wasn’t exactly what fans wanted seems a little bit too much, especially since most fans seemed alright with how the game ended.
Those ‘critical reviews’ are a joke. They all gave 10/10.
The game sold 1 million copies in the first week.
There are over 680,000 ANGRY CUSTOMERS on face book.
Read that again – 680,000 customers, and the game has only been out for two weeks.
Next time, try doing some research – its part of a journalist job.
I disagree with this opinion: it is not a question of having the ending that corresponds to what players imagined, it is a question of having the ending on par of the rest of the game, instead of Deus Ex Machina ending colored in 3 distinct ways… the current ending of ME3 invalidates the whole series, 120 hours of gameplay as it has no purpose. It explains nothing, tries to indoctrinate the player and leaves him ignorant. ME3 ending resembles a huge lie.
I agree with Amazon paying back customers, since Bioware itself was claiming that a game would have several endings depending on the gameplay from all 3 games … that is not a case, so the customers have received a broken product.
repost due to a typo in email adress…
“especially since most fans seemed alright with how the game ended.” – ??? Where do you have that from?
Online poll from a german gaming site (where people go to read about all kinds of games and not to complain about something in specific ) – from 22000 polls more than 50% said that the ending ruined the franchise, 40 percent where shades of “meh” and 10% liked it.
this poll i would call representative, not the bioware forums. I have no clue where Gamesta Nick gets his impressions about a vocal minority and huge positive feedback.

most fans seemed alright with how the game ended. Are they higher intellegent even Reaper, therefore they alright with it.
This is far from correct.
Vocal minority?!
We have much more “deslikers of ending” in IGN pool than those who liked.
We have thousands more in BSN pool.
Still, we are called minority…
Ridiculous is what Bioware promised as end, and all statements about the weight of choices in MANY different endings to a 3 color choice plot full ends.
How could from reviews and all this “professional game news” be so fast to stand AGAINST their customers… us…
“especially since most fans seemed alright with how the game ended”
Hey bub… you are talking out of your a.s.s.
If it’s ridiculous, why are you publicising it? It is pretty common knowledge, to anyone that is actually involved in what you’re writing about, that the FTC complaint was made by one guy who alienated himself from all but a handful of the many thousands of people actively involved in peaceful appeal to Bioware itself.
Bioware is claiming it consciously crafted the last bit of the game, which has been unanimously described (by actual owners of the game, not gaming media) as being of very low quality, for artistic reasons. The customers are simply informing Bioware that their idea of art stinks and that their assurances of further downloadable content which will “add” to the story which leads up to said stinky ending will be pointless.
Who are you to judge amazon’s customer policy?!
I wouldn’t go as far to claim that only a tiny minority of the players is unhappy about the ending.
its not a minority, most of the series fans are dissapointed, in the forums ( i fully understand a lot of ME players dont use the forums) but out of the hundreds of thousadns that do only 10% of them are satisfied with the endings.
if your gonna mane a page like this atleast learn a bit about what the story is about instead of posted your biased opinion based on nothing
