Information, along with a trailer (found at the end of this article), regarding the new Black Ops 2 Revolution DLC has finally been confirmed, as Treyarch’s Studio Head, Mark Lamia, discussed the content included.
“With Black Ops 2, the team set out to challenge assumptions about what fans should expect from Call of Duty, and there’s no exception with Revolution,” stated Mark Lamia. “It starts with the massive amount of content that Revolution offers: four distinct multiplayer maps, an entirely new Zombies map and new Zombies mode, and a new bonus weapon. But quantity is just the start – it’s the variety of new gameplay options in Revolution that sets it apart, making it our most compelling DLC offering to date, and a must-play experience for Call of Duty fans.”
Revolution takes players to unique and new venues across the world. “Downhill” is set in the ski country of the French Alps, where gamers will battle their way down the slopes and through a ski lodge. Proceed with caution though, because there are moving hazards throughout the map such as the mountain’s gondola system, which can kill you in an instant. Opponents must also be weary of the floodwaters in “Hydro” as they fight for victory in a dam facility in Pakistan, which is filled with deadly spillways. “Mirage” places players head to head in the sand dunes of a Gobi Desert luxury resort. Make sure to choose your weapon wisely, because Mirage consists of both long-distances and close-quarters combat. Finally on “Grind”, players will find themselves in the birthplace of skateboarding, California’s Venice Beach. Here, gamers will fight their way through the ramps and half-pipes of this enormous skate park. Competitors will need to find new ways to take cover, as the layout of the map mainly contains uniquely curved parts. All of these maps are different in various ways, forcing players to develop new strategies and techniques. This brand new DLC also presents players with a deadly multiplayer weapon, the “Peacekeeper.” This SMG is accompanied by its own set challenges, which offers bonus XP. According to the video, the “Peacekeeper” is a hybrid of a submachine gun and an assault rifle.
If all of this wasn’t already enough, Revolution will also put players in a Chinese city, where they will be forced to overcome hordes of zombies inside of multiple collapsed skyscrapers. In this brand new Zombies map, “Die Rise,” gamers will have the chance to obtain and upgrade Wonder Weapons, as well as combine parts to construct numerous devices. Treyarch has once again listened to their fans and added an unexpected new game mode called “Turned.” Players will now be given the opportunity to compete against each other as a zombie! The zombie’s mission is to hunt down and kill the humans. Once this task is completed, the zombie will then turn human, forcing them to obliterate their former kind.
The Revolution DLC is set to be released on January 29th for the Xbox 360, and will arrive about a month after that for the PS3 and PC. The price will be 1200 Microsoft Points, and is free for Season Pass holders. What are your impressions about Revolution based off of the video? How many of you will be buying it?
