Arcades might be a dying event in our sad human spirit, but arcade games will always be the basis of what we have accomplished today. WizOrb is the culmination of all our collected intellect through the classic that once was Arkanoid.
Developer Tribute games has cut a deal with publisher Beatshapers and will bring this classic block-breaking adaptation to the modern world onto Playstation Network Sony Entertainment Network. WizOrb mixes the classic Pong-gameplay of bouncing a ball around and infuses it with a fantasy RPG feel and magic, while still retaining a pixel art design of yore. It’s the perfect marriage of old and new. It even has some sort of concocted story regarding the fate of the Kingdom of Gorudo in order to drive the plot.
Players can break blocks in over 60 levels, experience boss fights, unlock multiple endings and do all that while using magic. WizOrb will release next month as a Playstation Minis for $3.99/€2.99. It will be available for PSP, PS3 and Playstaton Vita.
If that’s not enough to convince you, then have this trailer that shows off its pixelated style. You’ll also be able to see the different medieval locales the game has, different level designs, fearsome creatures, boss fights and all other gameplay elements that make up this grand adventure.
