Regardless of the game you’re playing, there will always be things that you like and dislike about it. Although this is obviously true now for Modern Warfare 3, I feel that there are a few important tasks that the developers can do in order to minimize the community’s complaints in the future and make Black Ops 2 a well made game in every aspect. Amongst those tasks are creating well balanced maps, continuously updating guns if they are too weak or too powerful, and making sure that the spawn systems for all of the maps are fair. Also, I didn’t come up with these based solely on my opinion; all of the problems I list are the most common responses from numerous fans of Call of Duty.
The most common problem that people complain about is that specific guns are way too overpowered. I couldn’t agree with this statement more. I feel like every single person at one time or another has complained about one weapon in particular and that is the FMG9. I know that some of you are going to say that an update already came out to decrease the powerfulness of the weapon, but I am here to tell you that the update they had wasn’t enough. Almost every single person I play against uses the FMG9 akimbo and it can still kill a player from a great distance. Also, guns like the ACR and MP7 are on another level than the other weapons available. However, I will give a lot of credit to them for trying to balance this out by making some guns better (such as the FAD and UMP45) but I feel as if they didn’t do quite enough for other guns. If they continuously adjust weapons, then Black Ops 2 can be a very balanced game as far as the guns are concerned.
Another complaint that I hear is that there really aren’t any good maps in Modern Warfare 3. Even though there are maps I do enjoy (such as Hardhat and Dome), there really aren’t any that get me stoked whenever I see them. If you read two of my other other articles, you would know that I compiled lists of the top five best and worst Call of Duty maps. I know that some of you may have noticed that none of the Modern Warfare 3 maps were the on the best list, but two of them were on the worst list. This speaks volumes of how the community feels about the maps in the most recent Call of Duty game. If you look back at some other Call of Duties, all of them have a lot of maps (such as Crash, Terminal and Firing Range) that are beloved by the community. If they really focus on balancing each side of the maps like they did previously, then they will have no problem making fan favorite maps and keeping us happily playing Black Ops 2.
The final and perhaps biggest problem with Modern Warfare 3 is the spawn system for basically all of the maps. I’m not talking about when you play against a good team that just spawn traps you either because that can happen on any map. What I am talking about is when most of your team is on one side of the map and yet you spawn five feet in front of an enemy. Spawning away from my team has been surprisingly common and happens more than a few times every game. I know it’s impossible to make the spawning absolutely perfect but I feel as if spawning in Modern Warfare 3 is unusually bad compared to previous games. I believe that one of the best things that can be done is to take a similar spawn system from the older Call of Duty games and implement it into Black Ops 2. Clearly it can’t be exactly the same since there will be different maps but having something similar isn’t out of the question. It is completely possible for the developers to do this while still giving us a completely new and different game.
Now don’t get me wrong, I still love Modern Warfare 3 and there are a whole lot of awesome things incorporated in the game. I just thought it would be a good idea to talk about a few changes that can be made to possibly make Black Ops 2 one of the most enjoyable games to play. Something else people also have a problem with is the lag, but I will talk about that another time. What other changes do you think they should make?
