Dirk Dashing 2

Well, heck. With all those indie platformers coming out (such as Pid), we almost forgot where the whole thing originated from. The recent release of one-man venture Dirk Dashing 2: E.V.I.L. Eye takes a step back and shows the lighter side of the genre.

This PC exclusive features a whopping 40 levels of good old fashioned platforming fun with no gratuitous violence whatsoever. Our dashing hero uses non-lethal means to get by his opponents and save the day. Dirk Dashing is made entirely in a cartoony fashion, even adding recognizable effects to falling noises or sneaking notes. The man can even be seen tippy toeing around hunched over, just like in any Looney Tunes cartoon. The soundtrack follows this up nicely with tracks befitting of a master spy gentleman.

Each level, players can also earn 4 bonuses that commend their skill in being undetected or unharmed, for instance.  This game also features joystick or gamepad support.

Dirk Dashing 2: E.V.I.L. Eye is available from its site for $19.99, but also features a sizable demo containing 8 levels; one of which is a secret stage.
