I can’t help but to cringe every time I hear something about this, which isn’t so objective, but I’d like to be upfront about it nonetheless. The beat ‘em up revival Double Dragon: Neon has received a release date.
The tag team will land on digital networks on none other than September 11, 2012. If that’s not an omen, then I don’t know what is. The duo Jimmy and Bimmy Billy will return in the classic 2D side-scrolling landscapes of yore, but adapted to modern times. The press release mentions a “bro-tastic” adventure that let these brethren take on something called Skullmageddeon to save their girlfriend Marion. So, two guys share one girl? This neon thing could get quite kinky indeed.
This ancient icon in the gaming world will launch on Playstation Network for $9.99 and on Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points.
Developer WayForward is currently working on several licensed products with sizable fan bases. One of these titles is the Adventure Time game on DS and the other is a weird spinoff on Vita called Silent Hill: Book of memories. The latter is an action RPG revision. We’re hoping for the best on all these titles.
I am probably in the minority on this (along with Daav there) but I can’t really get into Double Dragon- I was always a Final Fight man myself when it came to scrolling brawlers.
I am sure there are plenty of Double Dragon fans out there, I mean, it is released on just about every semi popular platform from NES to GBA and iOS (and it hit Android, I believe) with various versions, remakes etc.
What?!
This sounds suspiciously like Fifty freakin’ Shades of Treason, Carl. You’re just upset because Marion always winds up with me at the end.
Admit it man, she’s always liked me more so you know it’s the way things ought to be. If you search your feelings, you know it to be true. Why can’t you be happy for us, bro?
