Our Lego adventure goes behind the scenes once more to talk to the developers about the story and the game itself. They tell the tale of the Journey that is the lore from Tolkien, with a ring more powerful than anything else.  On this quest to destroy the ring, the heroes will meet with countless hardships, such as a giant spider seen in the video. There is also mention of large scale battles and even dark moments in the Lego universe, but with a lighter twist as this is a family title after all.

The Lego rendition of Middle-Earth will receive an impressive 84 playable characters, ranging from the traditional heroes of the series to villains like orcs and such. Each will be able to hold 9 items in a circle inventory. Throwing more numbers around, most characters also have a range of up to 40 different facial expressions. And speaking of throwing, some of those mechanics might also be available. After all, the clip can’t stop mentioning how “epic” this and that is. Frankly, that’s one of the only applicable uses of the overused word.

We then leave for the more grown up presentation of Lord of the Rings with another battle profile for Guardians of Middle-Earth. The warrior Nori swings a big pickaxe around to show his enemies who’s boss. He’s also an excellent support character when he’s not dealing damage on the front line. His Man the Walls attack offers resistance to control points and nearby allies, while Swift Blow creates a damaging area effect. The mysterious Wulfrun relies more on trickery and dark magic. He has experience with the fearsome Nazgûl and shows this in his attacks. With Dark Forces, a large dragon appears out of thin air, but the attack also enhances allies. Defensive Chaos does exactly what the name suggests and Wretched Vapors is a spell that knocks back foes.
