SpikySnail Games has announced that it’s bringing The Splatters to Xbox Live Arcade this spring. This physics puzzle game can best be described as a mix of LocoRoco and arcade stunts. Players take a set of weird fluids and try to perform as many crazy antics with them as they can. The game is said to remain as open-ended as possible, leaving level completion up to the imagination.

Gameplay will thrive on skill and determination. Progress will see new elements appear in the puzzles with additional creatures, liquids, stunts and explosions. One of these implementations will be a ‘Flip’ mechanic, which alters the direction of the physics applied in the puzzle.

Stringing together stunts and making a play as creative as possible is rewarded in multiple ways. For one, more flourishing moves will get higher scores and receive cheering adorations from crowds. Additionally, an in-game “Splatter TV” feature will allow players to record their best runs and share them with the world. For those that played EA’s Burnout Crash last year; the arcade style flash and instant gratification look a bit similar to that title.

SpikySnail Games is one of the rare indie development teams to hail from Israel. The Splatters is their first release and has already garnered attention from the indie scene. They were heralded finalists at the Independent Games Festifal (IGF), Indie Game Challenge and PAX 10.

THQ is continuing its use of the WWE license. This time the publisher has recreated the classic arcade game Wrestlefest for iPad and iPhone devices. The wrestling title is completely recreated for the modern touchscreens and can be operated with simulated arcade buttons. Its adapted graphics are now more cartoon-based with added effects and brighter colors, but still retains the 2D sprite charm.

Writers have come up with an entirely new storyline for the game. Just like in WWE 12, this brawler will feature the Road to WrestleMania, which tracks the progress of a player’s athlete. Many current superstars have been added to the line-up, but WWE Wrestlefest will also contain WWE legends. Stone Cold, John Cena and the late “Macho Man” Randy Savage are but some of the names in the current line-up. Superstars like CM Punk, Triple H and that pasty Irish bloke Sheamus will get added post-release in the planned downloadable content program.

WWE Wrestlefest will include a select amount of playing styles, such as Royal Rumble, Tag Team, Gauntlet and Steel Cage in all the well-known arenas of the WWE brand. Later DLC will also unlock the Survivor Series mode. A small feature reel has been sent out by THQ, which we’ll post below.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Newly dubbed “core games” vice president Danny Bilson stated: “The game’s arcade-style play, combined with present day WWE content and hints of nostalgia, is a perfect fit for the […] iPhone and iPad.” WWE Wrestlefest is available right now in the App store at $2.99 for iPhone and $3.99 for iPad. While it’s currently exclusive, development is said to take place for every major platform, including an Android port. These transitions are still booked to come out this year.

Gelid Games has released more info on their first title, Wheels of Destruction: World Tour; although they seem to have lost the subtitle now. In their newest trailer, Wheels of Destruction features the Scout car class. Scout is a synonym for speed nowadays so this class will be the swiftest of 5 classes to choose from. It is said to be the class of choice during Capture the Flag battles. The trailer displays some rapid fire swooping and vertically rising turns.

Click here to view the embedded video.

The vehicular combat title is a Playstation 3 exclusive, coming to the Sony entertainment Network soon. Rigged on the Unreal Engine, Wheels of Destruction pits players against each other in a select amount of arenas with an all-round futuristic atmosphere. It even has a slight Tron vibe with its blue tire lights. But most of all, it will be a fast-paced fight to the death.

After releasing the high-octane racing game Skydrift last year, Digital Reality is preparing another title called Bang Bang Racing for this year. This arcade title is a little more vintage, in the vein of R.C. Pro-Am. Players will take cars from a top-down view and race them around a hectic track.

The newest trailer takes a look at both the crud on the track, as well as the multiplayer options. While also detailing the 2 camera modes, Follow and Fixed, the video displays debris like cones and water barrels. It also looks at some more explosive aspects and slippery surfaces and features a boost mechanic. Lastly, it briefly shows the multiplayer split screen that will allow up to 4 players to weave through a track.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Bang Bang Racing will release on the digital networks for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, as well as a PC version. The game will hold 20 unique vehicles, 8 different skins and 4 different car types to choose from. It should be right up the alley for fans of classics like Super Off Road and other NES era racing games.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was very well received last year. In fact, developer CD Project just recently announced that it sold 1.5 million PC units last year, even if they also mentioned approximately 4.5 million pirated units . The Witcher’s sequel bore the brunt of those sales, having moved 1.1 million copies since May 2011.

Since its launch, CD Projekt already announced that it was working on a port for Xbox 360. This will arrive April 17, 2012 and will be marketed as an ‘Enhanced Edition’ with additional content and locations. The developer has released a small teaser that shows off the graphical prowess of the RPG title. It also casually boasts 40 odd awards their title has raked in during awards season.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Players will be able to enjoy the visual eye candy without the strain of having to own a huge gaming rig this time. That ease alone is quite the incentive to get an award winning RPG for your Xbox 360.

The question of how many discs Mass Effect 3 will span on the Xbox 360 and its paltry DVD size restrictions has gone surprisingly unanswered thus far. The number of discs that a 360 game would be forced to use has often been a point of contention, especially in fanboy wars. Mass Effect 3 stands to become another warrior cry of the blu-ray crowd as we’ve just learned that Mass Effect 3 will in fact use two discs on the Xbox 360.

It doesn’t come as a huge surprise given that Mass Effect 2 also took up two discs, but some people started to get their hopes up after Skyrim somehow worked its way onto a single disc for the 360. Being that Skyrim is probably the largest gaming world available on consoles, the notion that it could fit on one disc lead many to hope that the days of multi-disc 360 releases were over and done for. That is not the case, as playing Mass Effect 3 will in fact require you to get off the couch one time and swap discs. Good luck with that.

In the world of good news, having multiples of something isn’t always a bad thing. Along with ME3′s multi-disc release comes the announcement that ME3 will also be a multi-cover release. Mass Effect 3′s cover is reversible, with the backside featuring the fan-voted on version of Femshep on the cover rather than the standard mail Shepard. That’s good news for those of you that prefer the Jennifer Hale voiced lead to that one voiced by whoever-that-guy-that-voiced-male-shepard-is.

The Brain Age series has been one of Nintendo’s biggest portable hits, selling millions of units on the DS, and potentially selling a fair few consoles on its own too. While the games were a frequent sight on the original DS, they’ve been strangely absent in Nintendo’s in-house 3DS line up.

That is, absent until now. Nintendo recently announced that a new 3D Brain Training title will be coming to the 3DS near the end of the year. The title will be Japan-only for now, but it’s possible that we’ll see it in English-speaking regions at some point due to the popularity of the series.

Brain Training was a hit for Nintendo because it extended the DS’s reach dramatically, bringing in casual gamers and older gamers alike. The 3DS’s current lineup is largely focused on the ‘hardcore’ gaming crowd, or at least hardcore Nintendo fans, with titles like Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Mario Kart 7 selling strongly on the portable console.

Hopefully a new Brain Training can reverse that trend and broaden the device’s audience appeal for Nintendo. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more about the game itself, and as we learn whether it will ever see the light of day in English-speaking regions.

Capcom’s newest fighting crossover is coming out in a couple of weeks for PS3 and 360 gamers. Street Fighter X Tekken is, rather predictably, a crossover between the two huge fighting franchises that pits old school Street Fighter 2 and Alpha characters against Namco’s cast of fighters. It’s been hyped for months, and Capcom’s not afraid to fuel the hype machine with its own press releases.

Recently, the developer announced that characters like Sakura, Blanca, Dudley, Guy, and other will be joining the cast on the Street Fighter side. New Tekken characters include Jack, Lei, Lars, Alisa, and Christie. There’s still no word on whether Dan, Capcom’s long-term joke characters in the Street Fighter series, will feature in the game.

Still, despite the occasional missing pieces – which may just be unannounced content – this game is looking more like the ultimate fighting crossover with every press release. PS3 and 360 gamers can enjoy the game at the start of March, while gamers waiting for the PS Vita version may have a little more time to wait; the Vita version of the game is due for a Fall release around September.

Clan Operations were one of the first features that were touted for Call of Duty Elite. However, all we’d gotten thus far were delays and promises that it would eventually see the light of day.

That day is here, as Clan Operations have officially launched on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

What are Clan Operations?

We’re glad you asked, and we’ve got you covered on that front.

Clan Operations work similarly to Lone Wolf Operations, only your stats are tracked as a clan rather than as a…lone wolf. Operations such as “best K/D ratio” or “most TDM Kills” over a certain time period will arise and your clan can sign up and compete in them in exchange for prizes.

How Does It Work?

Each clan must have a clan leader designated. When a clan operation becomes available the clan leader can sign the clan up for it. Only the clan leader (not individual members) can sign the clan up so be sure and bug your leader if he’s slacking.

To keep things fair, the scoring for the clan op will only take the stats of the 6 best scoring players from each clan. This is done to make sure that a very large clan isn’t at a huge advantage in ops like “most TDM kills” just because they are adding up the scores of more players. If a clan has 50 players in the aforementioned clan op, their score will be the total TDM kills of the 6 players in that clan with the most kills during that op.

Do I Have to be a Call of Duty Elite Premium Subscriber?

Both premium and non-premium subscribers can compete in Clan Ops, but scores only count for premium subscribers. If you have the most TDM kills for you clan during the “total TDM Kills” op and are not a premium subscriber then those kills will not count towards your clan’s score.

What are the Prizes/Rewards?

There are 4 levels of placement in clan ops

Bronze – Finish in top 50%

Silver – Finish in top 25%

Gold – Finish in top 10%

Champion – Finish 1st

Any clan finishing in the Bronze, Silver, or Gold category will receive some form of reward. This is typically clan XP or clan badges for your clan showcase. More XP and better badges are awarded for a better finish. All badges are clan badges, not individual player badges.

Additionally, clans that finish as Champion can win real prizes for the members that finished in the top 6 (and hence had their scores counted) for that op.

PopCap Games is one of the largest casual game developers/publishers in the world. Their series such as Bejeweled, Zuma and Plants vs. Zombies have attracted millions of people worldwide. One of their biggest platforms is Facebook, due to their accessible freemium content. Today, the casual giant announced its release of a new title called Lucky Gem Casino, exclusively for Facebook’s social network.

Lucky Gem Casino will try and make gambling wholesome and fun for the whole family. The slot-based mini-games will include depictions from PopCap’s previous successes. Characters and images from Bejeweled, Bookworm, Chuzzle and so on will appear in 7 different games with virtual payouts. Some games resemble the mini-games available in Bejeweled 3, whom already diversified its content to match as many platforms as possible.

Vice president of worldwide publishing at PopCap, Dennis Ryan stated: “We are perfectly positioned to deliver the ultimate online free casino game experience.” Free-to-play is the focus of the newly launched title, but people will still be able to purchase Facebook coins in order to “accelerate and increase” their experience.

Lucky Gem Casino adds social networking to slot-games by letting players compare scores, play mini-games and share content together. It promises to grow and add to the experience later on with more games and community enhancements. It should be noted that all winnings are virtual and no payouts can be made into real cash. The game can be found at http://www.facebook.com/LuckyGemCasino.
