From Bedrooms to Billions posterGracious Films is currently holding an Indiegogo campaign for a new documentary project about video games called From Bedroom to Billions. The 90 minute documentary wants to shed light on the UK’s vital part in the creation of the industry and how it came from an individual effort to be one of the largest entertainment media in the world.

The project is lead by Nicola Caulfield and Anthony Caulfield; the latter of which is sporting an awesome Commodore 64 shirt in their project video. The two will try to span the UK industry from its early beginnings to the explosion in the late nineties. If you’ve ever want to get motivated to start writing code in your bedroom, this would be a good place to get some inspiration from the people who pushed an entire empire out that way. Of course, no documentary is complete without looking at the flip side of that success and as such it will also look over some of the struggles created in our beloved industry.

From Bedrooms to Billions features dozens of interviews with figureheads, but also wants to tackle the misconception that gaming spawned mainly in the US and Japan.

The project right now is a bit low on funds with just $2,300 of the $35K goal, but with 55 days left there is still plenty of time to chip in. Perks include a digital or hard copy of the film, shirts, portraits and more. You can pledge here.
