There’s a new game on Facebook that finally might be the big break you’ve been wanting. We say “might,” because it turned severely sour in the past with the likes of SimCity Social. At least Outernauts, as the thing is called, has some good things going for itself.
Out right now, Outernauts is the newest game from Insomniac games, who you know as the geniuses behind the Ratchet & Clank and Resistance series. This game backed by EA offers a free to play game in your browser with tons of goodies. For one, you can battle and collect monsters as you travel to distant planets. Players will also be able to upgrade their homes to make it a thriving hub. It will infuse more roleplaying elements together with the known tropes of social gaming.
It’s amazing the press release doesn’t state just how similar to Pokémon the game is. That’s right: Outernauts is like Pokémon. Wouldn’t that be all the promo they really need to get people to play? Even Sean Ryan of Facebook is impressed. The director of games partnerships also mentioned: “With the arrival of Outernauts, people who love console games have another way to connect with friends on Facebook.” As an extra incentive, the game has a strong resemblance to the visual styling of indie darling Bastion. Just fire it up, you’ll see what we’re talking about.
You’ll find Outernauts here.
