There’s been no shortage of hype for Guild Wars 2, NCSoft’s in-the-making sequel to one of the most popular MMORPGs of all time. Since the pre-release beta was announced a few weeks ago, over one million gamers have signed on to test the game out before it’s released. That’s a pretty impressive figure for a game that’s far from being as mainstream as many other MMORPGs.
Unfortunately, not all one-million will get to try the game before it’s released, and any gamers that haven’t managed to submit their information already will be left out entirely since entries are now very much closed. However, it’s staggering to see this much interest in a pre-release beta – the only example we can think of that even comes close is World of Warcraft, which came out years ago.
There’s still a long time before Guild Wars 2 is out, and we’re expecting the current level of hype to grow even greater as the game’s release approaches. Despite the non-disclosure agreement for beta players, we’re expecting to see a lot of speculation about this game as players slowly learn more about what NCSoft has in mind for us.
Although the beta’s closed for now, you can still read more about Guild Wars 2 here. Check out the game FAQ to get an idea of what’s in store for gamers, and read up on the game news to see when one of the biggest MMORPGs of the year is ready for release.
