Just a few days ago, ArenaNet lifted their screeching halt to Guild Wars 2 sales, after 1 million gamers already bought the game prior to launch. The company needed to stop retail sales to ensure a playable environment for the large community already active.
After reinforcing capacity for their game in all instances, even the struggling trading element, sales happily resumed to give others a taste of the popular MMO. They even doubled their customer support to make sure everyone is catered to. An excellent example of transparency on this subject can be found in their prior forum support, when bans caused some commotion.
Now, only days after reopening the floodgates and roughly 2 weeks after launch, Guild Wars 2 has surpassed 2 million sales. This puts it on the top spot of several European sales charts. The game also enjoys periodical spikes of activity with over 400.000 players at the same time. It’s safe to say that this free-to-play experience can be called a success. Given our time with the game, we can only concur that this RPG is one for the ages. ArenaNet President Mike O’Brien mentioned that they’re already planning to add new adventures and elements in the ever-active, dynamic environment of Tyria.
