Cardinal Quest 2

As I’ve mentioned before, Cardinal Quest is one of my favorite rogulikes. It combines that 8bit look with a sturdy and versatile experience that is easy to get into and tough to master. It now seems that there is a sequel in the works, but Cardinal Quest 2 needs your help.

The second wind in the dungeon crawling genre is currently asking for an acceptable funding goal of $19,500 on Indiegogo. What will you get for that cash? Well, developer Ruari O’Sullivan is completely overhauling the interface to feel less clunky, adding much larger levels, many more items and so forth. There are also 3 new classes in Cardinal Quest and all characters will receive their own skill tree for extra customization options. For instance, a ranger can use a pet to send it into the fray.

Owners of the original Cardinal Quest that bought it before December 8, 2011 will receive the sequel for free. Developer Ruari O’Sullivan mentioned to us that all channels are acceptable to get a copy.

The game is currently headed for a March 2013 release and the first chapter is already as good as ready. The additional money is needed to cover fees, redo artwork in higher resolution, music and to program a much bigger and better game in general. Should the campaign fail, the first chapter will still release, but this is the perfect opportunity to unleash its full potential. There’s a free demo available on the Indiegogo page to get a taste of what’s coming.

This needs to happen. You can find the Cardinal Quest campaign and demo here.

Cardinal Quest 2 can also be found on Steam Greenlight for those that would also want the game on the popular platform. You can find that page here.
