With only a few more weeks until its release, Halo 4 received a launch trailer. Here’s two minutes of live action interspersed with digital effects.

In this fiery number, Master Chief is trapped in a dark place. This sends him into a series of flashbacks about a brighter past, a kid and someone calling out to him by name, which is probably not often done in the games. We also see some scars on his wrists and what seems to be boot camp for a dystopian future. After that, the man is armor fitted, by which we mean his plates get drilled onto him.

In a nice gesture of honesty, Microsoft then notes that it switches to a cinematic sequence that is not intended to be viewed as gameplay. We see the alien race that Halo 4 will focus on, before we switch back to the harsh reality that is Master Chief’s imprisonment by an ancient evil.
