Iceberg Interactive is back, like a broken record, with yet another 4X space strategy game on PC. The publisher snagged the publishing rights for Endless Space, which was recently made available for preorder on Steam. The game by French indie developer Amplitude Studios will release on August 24, 2012 and Iceberg Interactive will take care of spreading the title to other digital platforms than Steam.

The game will work quite like the publisher’s previous revelation StarDrive, in the sense that players need to take over the galaxy, build custom fleets and that they can actively engage in battle with these ships. However, this title will sprinkle some Dune elements in there, by adding an ancient civilization amongst the stars called the Endless, which have now vanished and have left only Dust. It is said that those that control the spicy Dust, control the universe.

Additionally, people that preorder can also participate in the development process through feedback on early access builds, like Carrier Command is currently doing. It’s all been done before, but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to work out. However, in a sudden surge of popularity, you might need to take your pick of 4X strategy games this summer. Kalypso Media is also working on Legends of Pegasus.
