Kalypso Media, who are known primarily for the Tropico series, have been busy this week. They’ve released news for no less than 5 of their games.
Their mobster simulation Omerta – City of Gangsters has gotten a setback, probably due to some shady activity. The strategy title set in the prohibition era of the 1920’s will move from a fall release to early 2013. It has received a few additional details in the meantime, one of them being that there will be 15 unique playable characters to choose from. Advised prices have been revealed, with a tag of €39.99 for PC and €49.99 for Xbox 360. Note however that the PC version will require an additional Steam activation. The PC requirements are listed below:
Minimum system requirements Windows PC:
OS: Windows XP SP3 32-bit, Vista SP2, Windows 7 – CPU: 2 GHz Dual Core – RAM: 2 GB – GPU:
Geforce 8800, Radeon HD 2000, Pixel Shader 3.0, 256 MB discrete RAM – HDD: 5 GB free space
Recommended system requirements Windows PC:

The piracy simulation Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants for PC will finally land in North American retail on October 9, 2012. People that preorder the game will receive 2 small DLC packs as a bonus. Both content packs each include 3 additional buildings. The first is made available through Amazon.com, while the second one requires a bit more work. For the second DLC, gamers need to scan or photograph a proof of purchase and mail to bonuscontent@kalypsomedia.com before October 9, 2012.
Their flagship title will get a new bundled release called Tropico 4 Gold Edition. The pack coming for both Xbox 360 and PC on November 13, 2012 will bundle the core game along with the Modern Times expansion. The game holds over 30 elaborate missions and also has a Sandbox mode for custom games. Developer Haemimont Games are also the people currently working on Omerta.
Kalypso also announced that these titles will be distributed with Atlus. The 2 companies struck a deal to bring both the console and PC version of aforementioned games to retail stores in North America. The same is true for Kalypso’s title Dark, featuring vampires and supernatural powers. The Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Atlus stated: “Kalypso Media’s quality strategy games and action RPG’s fit in well with our own titles and those that we distribute from NIS America.”
Lastly, a trailer for the arcade game Dollar Dash has been released that introduces its wacky weapons. The short clip ranks the weaponry in 3 ranges. Among short weapons, there are boxing gloves to shoot at opponents, a vacuum to suck up money, a fire extinguisher and a Taser. Mid-range is held for a cactus, oddly enough, but also a more traditional rocket. Lastly, players can shoot the furthest with a giant ball, little snowballs, some poison or even fireworks. This party title will release for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
