Indie developer ThreeGates from Sweden believes that PC gamers have been short changed in recent times. In accordance with accessibility, “titles get watered down or console-adapted to the point where the gaming experience is no longer appealing to the original fans.” That’s what it says on the Kickstarter project they’ve started to remedy this, with a game called Legends of Aethereus.
This PC exclusive will go back to a day where complexity wasn’t frowned upon and include a set of elements that is sure to hit its mark with their purist approach. For one, focus is based on combat that will offer a variety of options, from setting up traps to interacting with the environment and paired with virtually endless customization options. More so, players will be able to create their own city embellishment with statue makers and banner editors.
The story and quests will work with a mixture of hand-crafted levels, along with procedurally generated environments, to improve replay ability. The game will also offer 4 player cooperative play and player versus player game modes.
All this only requires a push of $25.000 and doesn’t look half bad. In particular, the developers seem to have put some work in trying to uphold creative battle. Depending on your stance on DRM, the developers have mentioned to get the game onto Origin and Steam. You can pledge here.
