Warner Bros now owns most of defunct Midway Games. Once, that stable developed a series of popular arcade titles and even had Mortal Kombat under its belt. Guess who owns the latter? Anyway, Warner Bros is letting people remember Midway as it once was by releasing Midway Arcade for iOS devices.

Midway Arcade

Midway Arcade will bundle a multitude of classic games at the low price of €0.79, for a list of games detailed below:

  • Spy Hunter
  • Rampage
  • Defender
  • Joust
  • Root Beer Tapper
  • Arch Rivals
  • Skill-Based Games

If some of these titles sound familiar, it’s because they once were pillars in their genre. Spy Hunter is a classic top-scrolling racing game where players shoot cars and swerve over the road. Rampage is that game where you take monsters and bash a city to dust with it. It doesn’t get more awesome than that.

The nickel and dime squeeze gets pulled on players that want more games, as in-App purchases will unlock some additional titles. The Fantasy Game Pack will yield Gauntlet 1, Gauntlet 2 and Wizard of Wor. The Action Game Pack gives access to Total Carnage, NARC and APB. The latter isn’t the revived MMO sandbox title, just in case there’s some confusion.

These in-App purchases are equally valued at €0.79/$0.79, though it’s not all that necessary. However, Midway Arcade does support multiplayer, achievements and leaderboards, so perhaps these are an incentive to cave in to peer pressure. Midway Arcade can be purchased here.
