An update for Call of Duty:  Modern Warfare 3 has been said to be released and it all has to do with rebalancing different weapons.  These updates will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 first, but will later be coming to the PC in the next patch.

PM9 – Some of the kick was reduced.  Now I really don’t think this will change anything too much since very few people use it, but I might give it a second chance.  Who knows, maybe taking away a lot of the kick will be a difference maker.

MP5 – Increased fire rate.  This is another gun that I will have to try again because I simply love using guns with high fire rate.  Hopefully increasing the fire rate doesn’t make the kick unbearably insane though.

UMP45 – Increased damage.  I already know a good amount of people that use this gun, so adding more damage will clearly make it one of the most popular guns.

M16A4 – Increased damage and fire rate.  If you read one of my other articles, I talked about underrated guns in Modern Warfare 3.  Although I didn’t talk about the M16A4, it was one of the guns that a lot of people thought should be used more.  Now that it deals more damage AND shoots faster, it can easily become one of the best guns in the game.

AK47 – Reduced kick.  The AK47 is one of the guns that I actually thought was underrated.  I feel like many people never used this gun because they were afraid of the kick that came along with it.  Expect to see this gun way more often now that the kick is reduced.  I am now slightly concerned that the AK47 will become the most overpowered weapon in the game.

FAD – Increased damage and range.  The FAD was the second gun that I thought was completely underrated.  There is not a doubt in my mind that this will now be one of the most overused weapons in Modern Warfare 3.  The two reasons why people didn’t use this gun was because it didn’t do enough damage, and it didn’t have great range.  Well, now the FAD deals more damage AND has better range.  If there is one gun on this list you should start using immediately, it’s this one.

    I am excited to see the changes to the M16 because I always liked the gun but I never used it like I wanted to when games got serious because it just couldnt par with the acr or scar-L in my opinion but hearing about this upgrade i might even drop a token to take the baby with me next time

      I like the idea of a full-auto M16. Maybe have it work as an attachment that you can toggle from auto to semi ala hybrid scope. 3 round burst + full auto.

      BUFFING weapons is a good idea. NERFING them would be pointless, people will just move on to the next best thing.

      Guys, they patched the Type 95 and FMG9 a long time ago.
      Type 95 has a decreased hip fire accuracy and the range is terrible – taking 5 shots to kill so silencer is the worst attachment.
      FMG9 has also a decreased hip fire accuracy and it’s recoil has been increased as well.

      the point is now the weaker guns with the correct setup will now be on par with the pp90, mp7, acr, etc…

    Let me get this straight. They patched guns that didn’t need to be patched and ignored the MP7, Striker, FMG9s, and the Type 95? Wow, this game just keeps getting worse. Glad to know they buffed the FAD though, personally I love that gun. I’m sure that the CoD kids will find a way to abuse the crap out of it with the new buff though. *SIGH*.

    Hopefully the UMP45 is as good as it was in MW2, but that’s a high, rather impossible standard to even match. When will it be released for Xbox? I got on today and there was no update.

      BO 2 is going to be the worst selling COD game since before COD MW. BO1 was a joke and it was extremely easy to go on kill streaks. MW3 is going to do just fine.

    aside from the increased stats of the m16, and a slight range buff on the type, i think all weapons need to be reverted to when the game was released. the issues with these guns appear when the range, damage, melee, and rapid fire proficiency is applied. not to mention the lag! you may think you got killed instantly, but the opponent actually shot half a clip. watch the kill cams people

    as for the type and mark being op guns, you are stupid. you have to aim, lead the target, and play differently as to not get killed between shots….but you nerf them to take more bullets to kill, while the “spray and pray” method of full autos seems to be promoted with the rest of the weapons. type should be 1-2 bursts unless a longshot, and mark should be the same, unless its a headshot. now with the m16 being buffed up, the same rules should apply to it

    snipers should be a 1shot kill unless its a LONG longshot (even with a suppressor..its a .50cal for Gods sake). and do what black ops did, and eliminate (or make it much harder) quickscoping. its really the only thing i can bitch about as far as a persons gameplay. its manipulating the programming, not utilizing weapons or perks (campers, toobers, ect..)

    not big on subs, but ive seen the mp7 do weird things at very close range

    either way, this game has been a huge let down. constant nerfing and patching for cod fanboys, which decreases the realism. constant lag, migrations, and time-outs too, but those fixes seem to take a back door to gun damage and premium emblems and titles

    on an unrelated note, can you negate damage from FS, DMH, and blast shield? make them useless if they are being killed by reaper, predator, ac130? large ass missles wouldnt make an enemy just lay down in a Burt Reynolds pose

    If you’re good, you can use any gun. Shouldn’t matter. CM901, G36, PM9,Spaz-12,Mk14, P90, Scar-L, ect. I don’t care what other people use because you can still out play people. If you are complaining about overpowered guns maybe you need to get better at the game.

      ok first off, the M16A1 shouldn’t be buffed, I think that’s fine where it is, maybe make it more than a two bullet kill, same with the Type 95, the AK47 didn’t need a kick reducer, because i’ve seen people use it and have 0 kick to it! they should put a shot time in between bullets for the MK14, Striker, RSASS, and Dragunuv, totally make modded controllers and such obsolete, because a full automatic, 1-2 hit gun? really? they do need a damage increase for some snipers, and lose the ranged proficiency with shotguns. A damage decrease to the ACR and MP7 would be nice, and give the MP7 more kick, because i’ve been sniped repeatedly with that thing -.-

    Glad they’re fixing the m16, ’cause it’s whack in mw3, but it was da shit in mw2! ak doesn’t need reduced kick though, but it should have more power, like in mw2, it had some good kick to it but it hit harder. everything else i’m cool with, i just don’t like that they changed up the ak because it does take a little skill as he pointed out not many people use it and i like da fact that i use it all the time and most others don’t. i will be using the m16 a lot now

    Over powerd guns are striker,type95,mp7,and ak47 guns that need tone changed are ump45,mp5,m16,and dragnov

    Ok. I personally dont often use automatic weapons because i dislike the fact that i can shoot someone 5-6 times and they breathe deeply and everything is okay. I use sniper rifles only and yes i quickscope. What i cant understand is why people hate quickscopers when it requires more skill than most other playing styles. People would rather me rush around spraying with a shotgun than accurately shoot them with a sniper rifle at close-medium range. And yes i will “hardscope” or snipe someone if they are at a long range where i cant be accurate with a quickscope. I dont mind people camping, tubing, or just plain mowing me down with automatic weapons, but i cant stand someone shooting a Striker or AA12 without aiming, and then being allowed a Range proficiency!! Sniper rifles should be the ones with a Damage proficiency because a shitmarker with a sniper is worse than missing. I want a removal of Range for Shotguns and addition of Damage for Sniper Rifles or a damage increase patch for snipers. I mostly agree with other patches that have come out recently although the MP7 is a little too perfect of a gun. BTW the Model 1887 is NOT a sniper rifle so stop giving it 50 ft range.     I dont understand why call of duty adds a range proficiency to shotguns. The shot guns would shot at least that distance in reallity without spreading so quickly. And like many others have said FIX THE FUCKING MP7, The gun is really overpowered.
