MW3 Perks

Within every first person shooter, there are numerous things that are overlooked by the community.  This is no different when it comes to playing multiplayer on Modern Warfare 3.  Something that has been bothering me is that there are all of these great perks out there, but there are very few people that tend to even use them.  What I’m going to do now is breakdown three perks (one from each perk category) that I feel should be used more often.

PERK 1 – RECON

I know it’s hard to imagine playing MW3 without sleight of hand or scavenger but just hear me out.  If you’re looking to be a team player and actually get a long winning streak then recon is your perk.  It’s basically like a very short version of a blackbird from Black Ops, except that people only show up on the mini-map if you cause explosive damage to them (example:  stun or flash grenades).  I actually didn’t even try this perk until one of my friends started using it while we were playing team deathmatch.  He started painting enemies on the mini-map left and right which allowed me to continuously murder them.  Obviously it is very easy to kill a person when you know where they are on the map AND which way they are looking.  If you have a full team of recon abusers, you will have a clear advantage over your opponents.

PERK 2 – BLAST SHIELD

blast shield perkAlthough I feel like assassin is on a different level than the other perks, blast shield is still a good alternative if you’re looking to switch things up.  For this perk I’m strictly relating it to objective-based game types (domination, demolition, etc.).  I wouldn’t suggest using this in team deathmatch as you won’t be trying to dominate flags or defuse bombs.  On the other hand, using this in demolition is one of the smartest things you can do.  You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how many explosions you survive, especially when you’re trying to be clutch and defuse a last second bomb.  Blast shield could easily be the difference between you dying and losing the round, or surviving and getting your team the victory.

PERK 3 – MARKSMANmarksman perk

Marksman is probably the most underrated and one of the best perks available.  When I use this perk, my enemies can’t even get near me since I see their names pop up from across the map.  I normally pair marksman with my ACR, turning me into an unstoppable force.  The key to using marksman is pairing it with a gun that you can use across the map.  Most people obviously pick this perk for sniping but using it with an assault rifle is such a great combination as well.  Since certain assault rifles are extremely accurate (scar, acr, mk14, etc.), you can not only identify enemies from a great distance but you can actually kill them as well.  After realizing how amazing marksman is, I told some of my friends to give it a chance too; every single one of the people I told now use it on a regular basis.

All of these perks actually don’t look like they would be great just based off of words (like the descriptions in MW3), but when you actually give them a chance, they can be game changers.  I’m not saying that you should use all three perks at once, but you should definitely add one of them to your already existing classes and see how great they actually can be.

If you are playing HC like i do, recon is only usable when the uav is up… And blast sheild does almost nothing to save you, and for the pro you still get blinded.. focus is like imposible to lvl in hc… You die in 1-2 shots not easy to return fire then :-P

Overall the perks are not balanced for Hardcore wich is lame.

Recon Pro is on both of my main classes. If you combine recon pro with hardline pro, it is VERY easy to get the higher end support killstreaks.

I’m not the best on my clan, so I combine recon pro and hardline pro with UAV, Counter-UAV, and the Recon Drone when I play with my clanmates. Makes us VERY hard to take down.

There’s a reason there’s so many different perks. The fact Of the matter is, there’s a perk for every type and style of player out there. U find your perks that fit you best and to stick with them because they fit y

SitRep ismore rare than Marksman, but I think it’s better. Most people aren’t using Dead Silence or a headset so it’s easy to hear people coming, the base version lso maes it so you can get Care Packsges safely and avoid radar and claymores. great perk, best in that tier, IMHO.

Agreed. I use all these perks, sometimes not all together but it is pretty useful. Not to mention to a recent patch that made Blast Shield more effective in hardcore, so you won’t take much explosive damage with shortened health.
