Namco Bandai dropped a ton of info on their upcoming line-up. Especially anime fans will be interested in the several titles the publisher has coming up.
First off, they will be rereleasing Dragon Ball Z Budokai in a HD Collection. But, get this: Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection only includes the first and the third iteration, while the second one is mysteriously not present. Our guess is that the choice was made to provide the original and then add the third, because it is the highest rated DBZ game on Metacritic. Having just 1 game in the bundle would probably feel a bit light. Speaking of which, the only thing the game really does is update graphics and provide trophies. These were already light games to begin with, containing repetitive gameplay. However, we’re certain this will sell well, as most of them had at least enough commercial success to spawn a multitude of iterations.
More news on the Dragon Ball Z front, the Kinect version has received a release date along with the announcement of exclusive content. The game dropping on October 5, 2012 will feature a previously unavailable anime called “Episode of Bardock,” as well as have Bardock Super Saiyan as a playable character for the first time. The trailer also has some more gameplay footage that seems to stop the action periodically to give the player a choice of attacks. Also, no one has informed the voice actor of how to pronounce Super Saiyan yet. He must not have seen the episodes.
The localization effort for One Piece: Pirate Warriors has also received a European release date, along with the announcement of a special edition. All versions will debark exclusively on Playstation 3 on September 21, 2012. This includes a digital version on Playstation Network as well. The Collector’s Edition will contain a figurine of the Thousand Sunny; the quirky ship our band of misfits journeys the high seas on.
One more anime story comes from the Naruto camp. The publisher announced working on Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, which will release for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 sometime in 2013. Apparently, Namco Bandai enjoys big rosters and promises that this iteration will have the largest fighter line-up in the series. The story mode will mostly take place in the town of Konoha and players will also be treated to huge boss battles. The trailer shows off the unrelenting assault from the Nine-tailed demon.
Lastly, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 received a trailer that displays some new characters. This game will also offer the largest roster to date in the Tekken franchise. The gloved dinosaur Alex will be kicking some butt in this trailer, as well as huge robotic person Prototype Jack. Both seem to require a ton of spinning moves for some reason. Keeping things gyrating, disco stud Tiger Jackson will also be strutting his stuff and thrusting his pelvis. Lastly, Bruce Lee tribute Forest Law shows his speed and high pitched yelps.
