Sony just released its list of titles that will be available from launch for the new PS Vita. The games are downloadable through the PlayStation Network, with their UMD image stored using the Vita’s memory card. 275 original PSP games will be available when the device launches, with Sony adamant that more will be available in the weeks to come.
The list of games include hits like the PSP’s two God of War titles, Metal Slug Anthology, and the portable versions of Prince of Persia. Some great fighting games are also included, which will be great for taking advantage of the new console’s control scheme; Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny will both be available on the service from launch.
While Sony hasn’t commented on the complaints about Vita’s UMD download service not coming to the United States, we’re fairly confident we’ll see a lot of the missing content ported to the PSN Store over the coming weeks and months. Backwards compatibility has always been a strong point of Sony’s strategy, and we expect that it’ll continue with the PS Vita.
