QuakeCon 2012 has spawned a ton of neat news once more. The convention released information surrounding Bethesda’s franchises, such as The Elder Scrolls and Doom.
The publisher has struck a deal with Symbiote Studios, which will provide a series of vinyl figurines for the Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Doom and Quake. The Symbiote series of figurines are usually comprised of chibi representations of characters. The first available will be the Dragonborn from Skyrim, with a price tag of $9.99. Additionally, QuakeCon attendees that have preordered the goodies will receive a special figurine.
More on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the first official DLC Dawnguard has launched for Steam. This downloadable content explores the vampiric realm of Tamriel further and offers new quests, locations and weapons. Steam also celebrates QuakeCon by offering special deals this weekend, such as a very large package deal with most of Bethesda’s products (including Skyrim) for only $99.99. For those wondering, a PS3 version has not yet released because it didn’t match Bethesda’s quality standards as of yet. Upon release, the PS3 version of Skyrim was plagued with hindering glitches, such as extreme slowdown issues related to big save files.
Lastly, a new trailer was released for the remake Doom 3: BFG Edition. In this HD remake, you’ll be able to take on The Lost Missions. This trailer takes a glimpse at this horrible nightmare world filled with abominable creatures, which apparently also use chainsaws.
In less directly related news, id Software has expressed their approval of the successful Kickstarter project Oculus Rift, which reinvents virtual reality. People that share this enthusiasm will receive a copy of Doom 3: BFG Edition with the headset. The developer has also revealed that Doom 4 will work on the virtual reality device.
