Halo 4 Regicide

The info continues to slowly trickle out for Halo 4.  This time, we get some info on a new game mode and some details on how the new XP and ranking system will work.

The new game mode is called Regicide, and it will work as a sort of combination of Free-For-All and VIP with a twist.  You’ll start with normal FFA Deathmatch, but one player will spawn as the ‘King’.  Killing the king will net you bonus points (you’ll still get points for non-king kills, but not as many) and will also make you the new king.  As the king continues to kill more players, the bounty that players get for killing him increases.  As usual, the player with the most points at the end of the match wins.

In addition to the new game mode, we also got a first look at how the XP system will work in Halo 4.  Similar to Halo Reach, as you play you will earn XP.  We don’t yet know if you will earn XP whether you win or lose, but we would imagine so.

Again, similarly to Reach, you will then be able to spend that XP to buy goodies.  One way that Halo 4 will separate itself from Reach is that these purchased goodies will actually have an affect on the game , whereas in Halo Reach they were purely cosmetic.  Those goodies will come in the form of new armor ability unlocks, which so far we know will include Forerunner Vision (the ability to see through walls), Active Camo, and Hologram.

I think that would be a kool idea for a call of duty game type.
