Deep Silver has set a release date for their RPG sequel Risen 2: Dark Waters. The game will be available on PC first on April 27, 2012. It will then arrive on May 22, 2012 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The latter platforms slip slightly from previous announcements in December that hinted at a simultaneous release. Both versions will have Collector’s editions available for certain regions. Additionally, PC gamers will also be able to get the game through digital platforms.
Risen 2: Dark Waters takes the series towards the seas. It involves piracy and battling fierce sea monsters. The game also adds new firearm elements, plus the ability for players to use Dirty Tricks to destabilize opponents.
Risen 2: Dark Waters is being developed by Piranha Bytes, who is also responsible for the Gothic series. It’s a busy period for RPG revivals. The previous Risen game caught the ire of reviewer Angry Joe, who gave it a 3/10 and called it out on its pot smoking references and broom sweeping quests, amongst others.
