File this one under ‘employee screw-ups that Rockstar wishes we hadn’t seen.’ Rockstar North, the UK division of gaming developer Rockstar, may have inadvertently announced the release date of the upcoming sequel to GTA4. Character animator Alex O’Dwyer, an employee at the studio, mistakenly added a new detail to his LinkedIn resume – the detail being that GTA5 is likely to ship this October.
Rockstar has gone into full-on cover-up mode over the leak, taking the resume down and removing any traces of it from the internet. However, the gaming press got to it first, and screenshots are now making it to the furthest corners of the gaming web. Of course, we can’t confirm that the planned release date is legitimate, but given that it’s come directly from Rockstar staff, it certainly seems so.
Rockstar hasn’t commented on the leak yet, but we’re expecting to hear at least some form of PR friendliness from the developer soon. Whether that means a concrete release date will come out or we’ll simply remain in the dark about the game’s official release is debatable, but at least we now have a rough picture of when we’ll see the next GTA on store shelves.
If it really does get released on that time, I will be following you from now on.
i hope its true gta5 is d most talked about game since the trailer launch i will also follow you if its true
