Sega has announced a new Sonic game, big shock! In all seriousness, the company has suffered some losses recently that left it with a more focused view, so its newest announcement of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed might be a safe bet.

The racing game is quite what you’d expect from the title; Sonic and the gang now drive cars that slightly infringe the Transformers copyrights.  Naturally, the game will feature old favorites like Sonic, Beat from Jet Set Radio and AiAi from the Super Monkey Ball series. Newest additions include that dwarf from Golden Axe and Vyse from Skies of Arcadia. A trailer comes along with some screenshots, which we’ll post below.

Some more features include the All-Star moves that now fill up their gauge a lot faster when fancier tricks are performed.  It is also said that the battle system will be renewed and made ‘fair’ by making sure attacks can now be thwarted once the appropriate skills have been learned.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will arrive by the end of the year to a wide array of platforms. It will even release on PC as a digital download, according to the press release.
