If you’ve kept up with our recent articles, you’d know that Iceberg Interactive is currently more into space than Wheatley. Their latest deal involves the Collector’s Edition of SOL: Exodus, along with all digital platforms beyond Steam. The space shooter from Seamless Entertainment already debuted on the Valve platform earlier.

The premium retail version will contain an all-new game mode, an art book, the official soundtrack, an extensive manual and a redeemable Steam key. The CEO of Iceberg Interactive is quoted as saying: “We have been on a roll lately adding several space related games to our line-up and SOL: Exodus is definitely a really exciting one, full of 3D action, with a great story and highly professional voice acting.

SOL is set 500 years into the future of our galaxy, where the Earth has been ravaged and mankind must band together to find a solution for the dying sun. The plot takes a page from the Danny Boyle movie Sunshine. In any case, players take on enemy forces in space and battle for survival across our Milky Way’s locales. The game is also said to reference some TV shows and movies; we all enjoy some good pop culture after all. Seamless Director Dan Magaha mentioned: “As a small indie developer working in the town where Wing Commander was born, it’s been an honor to build our homage to the classic space games we loved when we were young, and we hope that passion comes through in the quality of our work.”

SOL: Exodus releases its Collector Edition on June 22, 2012
