We have more charming iOS conversions, after our earlier report of Bumpy Road coming to PC. Now, casual RPG hit Squids will make its way to the PC, after a milestone of 1 million players in its original version.
French indie developer The Game Bakers released a nice infographic to detail their iOS success story. For instance, we can see that the game is mainly popular in France itself and even more welcomed in China. The two countries make up for more than 40% of the total players and their respective continents, Europe and Asia, make up for 80% of the total.
Additionally, it shows the impressive rating it has enjoyed, with nearly 2000 perfect ratings from a total of 2328 voters. It’s because of this success that Squids is currently ranked the number 1 RPG in 65 countries and even claims the top spot in general in both France and China.
Squids enjoys success due to its simple “billiards’ gameplay mechanic with influences of Angry Birds, mixed with a traditional RPG game of story and party progression. Players can stretch their team of squids by their tentacles and then launch them into enemies. Each squid has its unique set of abilities and can be upgraded. By using the environment and playing to the squid’s strength, players make the most of any battlefield.
A sequel to Squids has been announced. Gamers interested in this quirky RPG can download it from the developers’ website for $6.99/€5.49/£4.99 here.
