According to a recent interview with Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida published on Gamasutra, the Playstation Vita is having some trouble convincing people. One of the issues mentioned was a lack of support. Shuhei Yoshida stated: “One thing that was surprising and disappointing to us was the [lower] number of third parties to come out [in support] after launch.” That, however, isn’t true for Konami, who just released New Little King’s Story on the new handheld. It’s a charming debut we’re personally already in love with.
The game follows a young, 14-year-old royal boy named Corobo. King Corobo’s lands are taken over by the evil Nightmare and to return it to its glory, he’ll have to go out and fix everything with a hands-on approach. What follows can best be summarized as part Syndicate, part Pikmin and part Harvest Moon. The king stands at the helm of an army of loyal subjects that can be picked up through the nation. Through the use of touchscreen controls, these folks can be rallied and sent out to war to conquer foes and rescue fair maidens.
It’s also possible to build new settlements and cultivate the land. In total, there are around 20 jobs to handpick for citizens and create your own little paradise from the ground up. Hopefully this will be enough to convince you all to go out and get a Playstation Vita.
