Developer Spicy Horse, brought to life by American McGee, is currently working on a free title for the web you might enjoy. The isometric adventures of Akaneiro: Demon Hunters smell of a time past in Okami.

The announcement comes with a short trailer laced with gameplay clips. Players will immerse themselves on a heavily cel-shaded island, with a lot of dark tones and equally dense saturation. An oriental soundtrack of pluck instruments will guide you through Yomi Village where evil threatens the lands. Only the Red Hunter will be able to thwart the creatures inspired by Japanese folklore. The game seems to use a myriad of flashy attacks, skills and traps. Players will battle large Demon Kings to get their loot. You can sign up for a Beta here.

When you’re done signing up, you can check out Spicy Horse’s other project called Crazy Fairies. This 2D multiplayer title is essentially a jacked up version of the popular Worms franchise. Players choose a cutesy character and then fight to the death on an equally adorable battlefield. You can upgrade weapons, use items and add effects to any one of the 8 characters available.
