Sleeping Dogs Launch

Sleeping Dogs, the collaboration of Square Enix with United Front Games of ModNation Fame (and recentlyLittleBigPlanet Karting), will release its sandbox action this week. In line of launch, Square has released a few more trailers.

The first talks about the dedicated PC release of the game. The developers deserve some commendation for not phoning in their PC version, but instead specifically pointing out its unique elements. Gamers that choose the PC version will be able to enjoy the game in more graphical splendor than other platforms, with adapted DirectX 11 options. Added lighting and rendering will offer an intense amount of detail, with high-resolution shadow textures and filters to boot. More so, options are available to optimize the game for Nvidia SLI and AMD Crossfire, as well as 3D monitors. Sleeping Dogs on PC will support both gamepad and traditional keyboard and mouse configurations, with remapping possibilities.

Additionally, the PC game will receive a high texture pack upon launch for even more detailed environments, visible from further away. Still, the trailer does reassure other PC gamers that an older setup should still run the game smoothly. The goal is to have the game optimally running at 1080p HD and 60fps. It’s rare to see a developer truly motivated to satisfy PC gamers on a multiplatform release these days.

People that preorder on steam will also be able to unlock some more goodies for Team Fortress 2. While the US will only receive a digital version of Sleeping Dogs, it will be available in both digital and retail versions for Europe.

Switching gears, Sleeping Dogs’ launch trailer takes a much more cinematic approach to dazzle potential interested parties. Protagonist Wei is an undercover cop in the bustling Hong Kong region with a bone to pick. What follows is a series of beautiful environments, fast cars, gorgeous women and tons of action. A lot of the game will be a series of martial arts fights, car chases, shootouts and all the accompanying explosions this will bring.

We, for one, are interested to see just how this sandbox title with a high action flick feel will eventually turn out. Sleeping Dogs releases this Friday.
