Game engine Unity has registered its program to more than 1 million developers. It seems that its recent giveaway promotion has done well to push it over the edge. The action running until April 8 gave away the iOS and Android features of the engine with its download.
According to Gamasutra, it reported that a quarter of this 1 million figure has adapted to the game engine since the end of 2011 alone. That means an increase of 250,000 people in roughly 4 months’ time. Additionally, 300,000 registered programs are actively making use of the platform. That’s a large amount of potential games.
Unity is used in games like Vita’s Escape Plan, Rochard, Marvel Super Hero Squad Online and more. It’s both a game engine and a graphical representation integrated into one whole, which can considerably ease its use.
