SEGA has released an interview trailer for their upcoming title Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown. In this video, developer Makoto Osaki and director Daichi Katagiri from AM2, discuss the subtle changes made to improve the fighting game. Unrealistic contortions were added to characters to improve satisfaction levels, characters got added that couldn’t be displayed before; other characters and options got cut and so on. A lot of development history and natural progression get discussed. They also reminisce about the beginning days, when characters looked more like cubes, due to polygon limitations.
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown will be released in the broad release window of summer 2012. As an incentive, the developers promise an experience identical to the arcade feel that normally outranks console releases.
